 Abstract:
The prevalence of Exercise-induced asthma (EIA) in the population is about 12-15%. In this review of treatment methods, alternatives to medication have been found. One method which has been effective in lowering EIA symtoms is a warm up 10 -15 minutes in duration, at 60% of maximal workload. Another method osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) diminished bronchospasm. A common thread in the research reviewed is that through the analysis of the physical status of the individual and elimination of structural restrictions, one can have a positive direct effect on both functional lung capacity and bronchospasm.
