Abstract
Introduction Irritable bowel syndrome (SII) associated with constipation and other disorders also affect the physical quality of life (CVF) and mental (CVM). With unknown cause, there isn’t etiological and therapeutic evidence in osteopathy. Objectives Establish a possible etiologic pattern and test the effectiveness of osteopathy to improve this problem and quality of life (CV). Material and methods A randomized clinical trial was made. 22 subjects were randomized into two groups. The intervention group (GI) received osteopathic manual treatment (TMO) and placebo for control group (GC). RomaIII criteria and CV were assessed with the SF - 36 questionnaire. Depositional rate was quantified. Results For the GI and GC, the depositional rate had a median value of 15 (13-17 ) and 14 (13-16 ), respectively (sig > 0.05). RomaIII criteria showed positive rating in 81% of patients of GI and 90.9 % of GC (sig > 0.05). The change produced for CVF had a median value of 1 ( 1-3) for the GI and 0 ( -2-1 ) for the GC ( sig < 0.05). For CVM was 7 (0-14 ) for the GI and 0 ( -1-2 ) for the GC ( sig < 0.05). CVF improved slightly, although in many patients. CVM improved significantly, although in a few patients. Conclusion Osteopathy hasn’t been effective to improve SII symptoms with constipation subtype, though it’s done for the CV. Other studies with more patients are required to improve some minimal results.
