This study describes the indirect treatment of the colon by means of only onetechnique. The fundamental element of the proposed technique is the Toldtfascia and its relation to the paravertebral musculature.ObjectiveTo demonstrate the effectiveness of the technique in cases of constipation.To evaluate changes in the variables between the experimental group and thecontrol group.To verify the relationship between constipation and lumbar pain.Materials and methodRandom experimental clinical study over a period of six weeks.Twenty women between of 25 to 50 years of age are divided into two groups.The experimental group (n=10) will receive six treatments every second dayfollowing the osteopathic protocol: the technique of paravertebral musculatureinhibition. The control group (n=10) will do diaphragmatic respiration twotimes a day.To observe the evolution the PAC‐SYM questionaire and the defecation calendaris used.To evaluate the relationship between lumbar pain and chronic constipation aquestionaire proposed by the author will be applied.The resulting data of the experimental study will be analysed by means of theStata v11.2 program.
ResultsSignificant improvement in the number of bowel movements and significantreduction of the PAC‐SYM total punctuation, with the differences between bothgroups at the end of carried out study statistically important (p˂ 0,005).In the abdominal, rectal and defecation dimentions a significant improvement isobserved in both groups, with the statistically important difference ((p˂ 0,005)in the defecation dimention.The relationship between constipation and lumbar pain is confirmed.ConclusionsThe technique of the paravertebral musculature inhibition can become aneffective tool in the treatment of patients with chronic constipation. - Abstract
- Este estudio propone un tratamiento indirecto del colon con la aplicación de una únicatécnica. El pilar fundamental de la técnica propuesta es la fascia de Toldt y su relacióncon la musculatura paravertebral.Objetivos:Demostrar la efectividad de la técnica sobre el estreñimiento.Evaluar la variación de las variables entre el grupo intervención y el grupo control.Verificar la relación entre el estreñimiento y el dolor lumbar.Material y método:Estudio clínico aleatorio experimental de 6 semanas.Muestra formada por 20 mujeres con edades comprendidas entre los 25 y 50 añosdivididos en dos grupos. El grupo intervención (n=10) recibirá 6 tratamientos enintervalos de 2 días, según el protocolo osteopático: técnica de inhibición de lamusculatura paravertebral. El grupo control (n=10) realizará respiración diafragmática2 veces al día.Para ver la evolución se usa el cuestionario PAC‐SYM y un calendario de deposiciones.Para evaluar la relación entre dolor lumbar y estreñimiento crónico se aplicará uncuestionario propuesto por el autor.Los datos resultantes del estudio experimental se analizarán mediante el programaStata v11.2.Resultados:Mejora significativa en el número de deposiciones y reducción significativa de lapuntuación total del PAC‐SYM, siendo las diferencias entre ambos grupos al final delestudio estadísticamente significativas (p< 0,005).En las dimensiones abdominal, rectal y defecatoria se observa una mejora significativaen ambos grupos, siendo la diferencia estadísticamente significativa (p<0,005) en ladimensión defecatoria.Se confirma la relación entre el estreñimiento y el dolor lumbar.Conclusiones:La técnica de inhibición de la musculatura paravertebral puede ser una herramientaeficaz a la hora de tratar pacientes con estreñimiento crónico
