Abstract
Introduction: Normalisation techniques of the active ROM of cervicalrotation parameters of the upper cervical area are applied frequently inosteopathy. We are comparing two diferents ways to achieve it in order toclarify wich is most. Objective: To compare the effectiveness of a specific adjustment technique(SAT) and a muscular energy technique (MET) on the active cervical rotationROM after the correction of the upper cervical area in people with limitation ofthis rotation movement.Methodology: First of all, we have checked limitation of the active cervicalrotation ROM by means of an inclinometry to a sample of 26 individuals. They have been randomly applied SAT and MET techniques, and after wehave evaluated cervical ROM again to assess the degree of improvement ofit after the techniques. Results: After statistical analysis of the data collected, the study has shownnot significant results between MET and SAT in right rotation (p = 0.146). Inleft rotation a significant difference had been observed (p <0.05) and METhas shown better results in ROM.Conclusions: MET technique seems to be more effective in improvingcervical active ROM in rotation than SAT technique. New studies arerequired about the effect of the SAT technique with more accuratemeasurement methods.
