Introducción: Este estudio se centró en el hipotiroidismo (HT) primario autoinmune, dada su alta prevalencia. El rasgo característico del hipotiroidismo primario es el enlentecimiento de la actividad física y mental de los pacientes y de las funciones de sus órganos. Pilat A, propone una liberación específica de la zona infrahioidea como método de inhibición muscular. Como objetivo de este trabajo se observaron los cambios en el resultado del Cuestionario de Seguimiento Metabólico (CSM), después de realizar una inhibición de la musculatura infrahioidea mediante la liberación miofascial.Método: Se realizó un estudio cuasiexperimental sin grupo control que evaluó los resultados séricos y el CSM de 48 pacientes diagnosticados de HT antes y después del tratamiento. Las variables fueron: nivel de TSH en sangre; nivel de T4 libre en sangre; puntuación en el CSM.
Resultados: No se pudo constatar que el tratamiento osteopático en el HT fuera un método eficaz, ya que de la muestra del estudio, tan sólo un 3,23% obtuvieron mejoras significativas.
Conclusiones: La sociedad osteopática debería implicarse en el tratamiento del HT para poder demostrar que se podría mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes sin un tratamiento farmacológico que aumente los gastos en la sanidad pública - Abstract

Introduction: This project is focused on primary autoimmune hypothyroidism (HT), because of its high prevalence. The HT characteristic feature is the slowing down of patients' physical and mental activity and their organ functions. Pilat A proposes a specific release of the infrahyoid area as a method of muscle inhibition. The goal for this project was to observe changes in the Metabolic Monitoring Scale (CSM) result, after performing an inhibition of the infrahyoid muscles through myofascial release.
Method: A quasi-experimental study was guided without a control group, which evaluated the serum results and the CSM of 48 patients diagnosed with HT, before and after treatment. The variables were: TSH level in blood; level of free T4 in blood; score in the CSM.
Result: It could not be confirmed that osteopathic treatment in HT was an effective method, because only 3.23% of the study sample obtained significant improvement.
Conclusion: The osteopathic society should be involved in the treatment of HT to be able to demonstrate that it could improve patients’ life quality without a pharmacological treatment that increases public health outgoings. - presented at
