Abstract
Introduction: there are many people who suffer from the central sensitization syndrome (SSC), which causes a hyperresponsiveness that remains in time despite not being stimulated and leads to a variety of complex symptoms, which affect the system Nervous Central (SNC), which supposes an amplification and generalization of pain. This study has tried to demonstrate that the application of an osteopathy technique known as Compression Technique of the fourth ventricle (CV4) is able to improve the most common symptom of the SSC, chronic pain.
Method: a quasi-experimental study was used in which 20 subjects diagnosed with SSC with associated non-oncological pain participated, which were divided into two groups randomly, with three interventions in each group, in which one was given the CV4 technique and to the other a placebo manual contact. It was used he SF-36 health questionnaire.
The dependent variables pain and treatment technique were studied and measured by the t-Student.
Results: the results obtained were only significant in the physical function item. It would be interesting to repeat the study with a much larger volume of patients.
Conclusion: The only function that improves after the treatment of CV4 is the physical function, and although there is a positive change in terms of the pain item, it is not significantly. It would be interesting to repeat the study with a sufficiently representative sample and with greater control over the variables.
