Introduction: in Catalonia there is 31% of the population suffering from chronic pain. The cranial osteopathy acting on the cerebrospinal fluid (LCR) allows us to produce changes in the nociceptive stimulus, which favor the normalization of the homeostatic system that will help us to palliate the pain. Objectives: to analyze the effect of the technique on the fourth ventricle (CV4) and if it produced an improvement in the quality of life and a decrease in pain.
Material and methods: a pilot study was performed on simple blind and blind to thirds with cranial technique on the fourth ventricle or simulated technique. The study variables were sex, age, change in the SF-36 test and changes in EVA. The treatment was 4 sessions during 8 weeks. The sample consisted of 8 patients, 4 for the control group and 4 for the experimental group.
Results: in the experimental group a change of EVA equal to or greater than 2 points between the first and the last session in 100% of the cases was observed. While at SF-36 test, we can see significant improvement in the pain, health, vitality and social relationships graphs.
Conclusions: CV4 has a significant improvement in the EVA questionnaire. However, the sample size was not significant to obtain objective results - Abstract

- presented at
