Osteopathie als Teilgebiet des Medizinsystems deklariert für sich einen
ganzheitlichen und philosophischen Ansatz. Gleichzeitig ist der Stellenwert zu
Themen der Ernährung an osteopathischen Instituten bisher als gering
einzuschätzen.
Ziel: Ziel dieser empirischen Studie
war es zu überprüfen, inwieweit Ernährungswissen/ Ernährungsthemen integrativer
Bestandteil der Osteopathie in Deutschland sind.
Methode: Mit Hilfe eines
Onlinefragebogens wurden im Sinne eines quantitativen Studiendesigns 242
praktizierende OsteopathInnen in Deutschland zu dieser Thematik befragt. Zur
Prüfung und Auswertung der Antworten und Schwerpunkte des Fragebogens wurden
neben der deskriptiven Analyse auch Hypothesenprüfungen anhand von zwei
t-Tests, einer Korrelationsanalyse sowie zwei Regressionsanalysen durchgeführt.
Ergebnisse: 218 (92 %) von 237 Befragten
sind der Ansicht, dass OsteopathInnen zu Themen der Ernährung ausgebildet sein
sollten. 200 (87 %) von 242 befragten OsteopathInnen geben an, ihre
PatientInnen häufig oder sehr häufig zu ihren Ernährungsgewohnheiten zu
befragen. Die Einschätzung des Einflusses der Ernährung auf die Gesundheit, das
Selbststudium sowie Fortbildungsteilnahmen haben einen positiven Einfluss auf
die eigene Sicherheit im Umgang mit Ernährungsfragen.
Schlussfolgerung: Ernährungswissen wird von den
meisten (87 %) der an dieser Studie teilnehmenden OsteopathInnen in die
osteopathische Praxis integriert. 92 Prozent sind der Meinung, dass
OsteopathInnen im Bereich Ernährung ausgebildet sein sollten. Die Sicherheit im
Umgang mit Ernährungsfragen erhöht sich durch Fortbildungen und ebenfalls wenn
die Einschätzung des Einflusses der Ernährung auf die Gesundheit steigt.

Background: Knowledge of nutrition has a great effect on the health and social issues
in society. Osteopathy as a branch of the medical system declares for itself a
holistic and philosophical approach. At the same time, the significance of
nutrition at osteopathic institutes is up till now little regarded.
Goal: The goal of this empirical study was to test how far nutritional
knowledge/themes are an integrative part of osteopathy in Germany.
Methods: For this purpose, 242 practicing osteopaths in Germany were surveyed about
this subject matter with the assistance of an online questionnaire. In addition
to the descriptive analysis, two t-tests, a correlation analysis, and a
regression analysis were carried out to test and evaluate the answers and the
focal points of the survey.
Results: 218 (92 %) of 237 of the respondents are of the opinion that osteopaths
should be educated about nutritional themes. 200 (87 %) of 242 consulted
osteopaths claim that they often or very often question their patients about
their nutritional habits. Appreciation of the influence of nutrition on health,
self-study as well as participation in further training have a positive
influence on sureness in dealing with nutritional questions.
Conclusions: Nutritional knowledge is from most (87%) of the osteopaths taking part in
this study integrated into their osteopathic practice. 92% of the osteopaths
have the opinion that osteopaths should be educated about nutrition. Certainty
in dealing with questions on nutrition is increased through further training
and similarly when appreciation of the influence of nutrition on health is
increased.
