Abstract
INTRODUCTION
The cecum as the nearest viscera to the vermiform appendix, can suffer a disfunction
of its movility after suffering surgery in a appendicitis as well as after other abdominal
surgery for the risk of peritoneal adhesion.
- OBJECTIVES
To analize the changes which are produced in the total rotation of the right hip after a
procedure of the cecum movility in appendectomied patients by open surgery. To
check if as movility technique of the hip also produces an increase of the rotation and
to compare both techniques. To analize which rotation is the one which increases the
most.
- PATIENTS AND METHODS
It is done a randomized clinical trial in a double blind in a total of 30 people who are
divided in three groups of ten. One control group or placebo, a group to whom a cecum
movility technique is applied and another group to whom a hip movility technique is
applied. To size the rotation of the coxofemoral joint an pendular goniometer was used.
- RESULTS
It was observe an increase of the total rotation (ARtotal) in 28,4 mean dregrees in the
group of the cecum movility and only 4,8 degrees in the technique of the hip movility.
The hip external rotation was the one with the highest increase from both techniques
and in the left hip which suffered no intervention there was an increase of 11,6 mean
degrees. The statistics analisy was done by SPSS and groups were compared by U of
Mann-Withney with a level of significance of P<0,05.
- CONCLUSIONS
In conclusión, the improvement of the hip movility suggests an important relation of the
posible disfunction of the cecum after the apendicitis surgery and the hip joint.
