Background: A somatic dysfunction (DS) in the cervicodorsal hinge (Hinge CD) could modify the mechanosensitivity of the medium nerve. The goal was to assess the effect of the cervical dorsal lift (lift CD) over the upper end of the median nerve neurodynamic test (ULNPT-1). The hypothesis suggested that after the application of the technique a change would occur in this test, compared to those which a CD lift technique have not been applied.Methodology: Thirty people between 20 and 45 years old which 14 are female and 16 male. All of them showed a DS in the associated hinge ULNPT CD-1 with a normal response and without prior neck or upper limbs pain. A randomized clinical trial was made in which subjects were divided into an experimental group and an equal-size control group. CD lift technique was applied to the experimental group while a simulated sacral technique was employed to the control group. The ULNT-1 extension elbow parameter was measured by goniometry previously, afterwards and one week after the intervention.
Results: On the one hand, the experimental group showed significant changes after the lift CD in the left elbow (p=0,018) as well as in the right one (p=0,042). However, these changes were not produced after a week. On the other hand, the control group did not show any change neither in the short nor in the long period.
Conclusion: This technique produces significant changes in both elbows with an increase in the extension, but not in the long-term. - Abstract

Antecedentes: Una disfunción somática (DS) en la charnela cervicodorsal (Charnela CD) podría alterar la mecanosensibilidad del nervio mediano. El objetivo fue valorar el efecto del lift cérvico-dorsal (lift CD) sobre el test neurodinámico de la extremidad superior del nervio mediano (ULNT-1). La hipótesis planteada fue que se produciría cambio en ULNT-1 tras la aplicación del lift CD comparativamente a aquellos que no se aplicó.
Metodología: 30 individuos ( 20-45 años; 14 mujeres, 16 hombres) que presentaron una DS en la charnela CD y ULNT-1 con respuesta normal sin dolor cervical ni extremidades superiores previo. Se realizó un ensayo clínico aleatorizado en el que se dividieron en un grupo experimental y un grupo control de igual tamaño. Se aplicó la técnica de lift CD al grupo experimental y una técnica simulada en sacro al grupo control. Se midió la extensión de codo del ULNT-1 mediante goniometría previamente, posteriormente y una semana post-intervención.
Resultados: el grupo experimental mostró cambios significativos después del lift CD para el codo izquierdo (p=0,018) y para el codo derecho (p=0,042), y ningún cambio significativo a la semana. El grupo control no presentó cambios.
Conclusión: la técnica produce cambios significativos en ambos codos con un aumento en la extensión, aunque no a largo plazo. - presented at
